Since a little while my 96 makes funny noices when I turn the wheel to the left or right...first a little and now a little more to give me some concern.
This should go in the E36 section. But it sounds like the clock spring in the steering wheel is getting dry and worn out. Sometimes if it hasn't been making this noise for too long a shop can take out your air bag and carefully lubricate the clock spring. Otherwise you will need a new clock spring. The clock spring is a copper spring that keeps in contact with the steering wheel when it is turned so the horn and air bag have power.
