Motronic 1.0 and Error Codes???

3-Series (E21, E30) Chat relating to the BMW 3-Series from 1975-1983 and 1984-1991 line. Specific models: BMW 315, BMW 316, BMW 318, BMW 318i, BMW 320/4, BMW 320i, BMW 320/6, BMW 323i, BMW 320i. E30 Family models include: BMW 325e, BMW 325i, BMW 325is, BMW 325ix.

Motronic 1.0 and Error Codes???

This has bugged me for a while and I was curious if anyone has a satisfactory answer.
Eta/Super Eta owners have the Basic Motronic 1.0 in our cars, which don't have an owner identifiable error code capability. I can't go into my car and put the ignition into the start position without starting the car, and press the gas pedal 5 times and get a code flash on my dash... Does 1.0 actually have unique codes? Would an external code reader/service light reset tool do the job? Or is 1.0 just too primative to report codes at all?
