Motometer Versus Vdo - BMW Forum

Im sure this has been discussed many times but im new so please help. I have an 87 325. It has a Motometer Instrument cluster. The tach and odometer stopped working. I took out the instrument cluster and saw that the gears were snapped (Explaining the Odometer) and the battery on the circuit had leaked all over the place. I would like to swap out the entire instrument cluster with a whole new unit but want to know if I can replace it with a VDO version. WIll everythig work ok if I swap the entire unit?

thats the same exact thing im doing soon. my motometer odometer quit and
im about to swap it with a new VDO cluster. i think just as long as you dont mix the 2 (VDO speedometer in Motometer cluster) you should be alright.

yes, you can swap them, it will work as long is a whole unit.
