Morning Starts - BMW Forum

Does anyone have problems when starting their car in the morning, taking a minute to get going? I got that problem and if I leave it in the garage its usually easier to start in the morning then leaving it outside. sometimes it will start up, run for a few seconds then shut off, then u gotta start it again and it may do that one more time or so until it starts up normal after that. Any Ideas of what it could be. Someone said it might be the fuel enjectors or something. Also if u just hold on the clutch and try to start it u can smell gas and there is no one pushing the gass pedal. If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks.

Hi! I know that you posted this a few months ago and perhaps if you read this you might allready have solved your problems.

I own a 91 318is and when I bought it, it had also the same problem. It was caused by the temperature switch, not the one that sends the temp to your gauges. In my particular case the CHECK ENGINE light gave my the 1223 code. It was a simple fix and ended the morning problem.

What kind of car do you have, my problem was not nearly as serious as yours but in the morning my car used to squeak for a minute after a cold start. The dealer said that one of the parts involving the belt had an update and just needed it. So they replaced that and they also replaced the belt.
