i noticed today that my 318is is chattering pretty bad on the passenger side. sounds like its coming from the headers or the block. it has 225k miles on it so i know there will probably be some noise... is this one normal?
what kind of chatter?
Does it vary with Rpms?
Driving differently?
Have you replaced your timing chain tensioner? Those tend to make noise, i replaced mine at 150k. Im sure you might be due for that?
Might be the valves?
its at low rpms and it doesnt feel like its driving differently, but ive only had it for 2 months. the tensioner was the first thing i was going to replace because of the mileage, but this sounds like its coming from under the motor. i dont think its the valves unless one of them is bent or something. besides, it sounds like its further south than the valves. would a miss cause it to chatter?
