Hi guys,,, new here and first up a little twister for ya.When living in New Zealand i owned a UK imported m3251 1990 model. had wipers on the head lights and all that stuff. Now I,m living in Australia i,m bidding on a 1987 325is. What the hell is the difference, the 325is dosent have a sun roof or headlight wipers, does have leather seats ect which the M325 didnt have. Unfortuneatly I didnt record the vin of the m325i si I cant do some checking. The vin of the 325is doesnt say its a "is" model, just a "i". Maybe its a made up unit.
Any Ideas guys.
i never heard of an M325i...in NA they call them M3s....designations differ nationally though...I've seen that in the past. For instance, as I owned a 1986 635CSi I noticed that the European folks would refer to the hotrod version as the M635CSi whereas we here in NA called it the M6. Never heard of an M7 though, that would be awesome!

The ///M635CSi and ///M6 I thought are two different cars?

^afaik there was first the M635i and then three years later came the M6 which was an updated/facelifted version
same thing with the e28
and afaik there was never an M325i. The M3 has a 2.3 liter engine except for the Italian version which had only 2 liters
it's probably just a 325i with some M parts
As for the M7, you have to make your own, which Im in the middle of and will take alot of time, we have 7 series club here in the UK and one of our members basically has one, full body kit, S/S sports exhausts, lowered sports suspension, strut bar, awesome rims ($7000 just the rims) and loads of other bits, he's now thinking of a re-map but says he has plenty of power anyway ( 750il V12 ), also he has won various car shows, He had it valued and it came back at $21,000 and its a 1996 version!!!, Oh and he has had offers above this.

obviously kidding about the M7 - at any rate, had a 1986 635CSi with 125K miles on it...ran fine. Found a 1988 M6, red with 54K on it. $16,000...this was in 1999. I passed and still kick myself in the ass for that move.....(non-move) .....it was right there in front of me....painful to even think about....
my point is i guess is...that i pulled the 635iC up right next to the M6 and opened the hoods on both and looked at these bays side by side. not even close...the M6 had an engine that looked like a tank engine compared to the 635...everything was jacked....really..it was surprising as to how much the M looked more substantial than the regular 6....i was dumbfounded...
^ yep the difference is the s38(M6) engine vs the M30(635) the M30 is bullet proof(mine has 250k miles and doesn't burn any oil )

most notably was the DOHC, followed by headers and tuned exhaust. not to mention the intake/air config.....and the suspensions...don't even talk about the suspensions.....these 2 cars looked virtually similar sitting next to each other in a parking lot but were incredibly different...I wish I had never driven this M6...after many 2002's and 533i and 535i and 325i and 635CSi...I believe that that 1988 BMW M6 in 1998 (when I could have bought it) produced 286HP stock....if I would have bought the damn thing then and not put much mileage on it it would be worth $60K right now. Seriously...a 1988 BMW M6 with 80K original miles? In mint condition....I think 60 may be low on that one...but I don't have it...could of...don't ... so whatever
