unfortunatly I'd say 2k isn't enough... the 3 litre stroker kit itself costs 2300 dollars. So I'd say 3400 if I could afford it. Thats a bad engine you've got though. You should let me borrow it. :-p I've got a little rsx-s that needs to get put in its place.
yup i'd say the same maybe 3.5k wuld be suffcient :-P

3.5k sounds reasonable but i would not be surprised if it is more. For that kind of money an engine swap comes to my mind. Anyhow, what do you guys think about the M5 engine swaps. I would be scared to about my cars rigidity a bit wouldn't you??

Id say around $4000 due to all the headwork. Engine swaps are good but im guessing he cant swap or he wouldnt be in the same classs anymore. Just my thoughts. Which m5 motor are you thinking about?
look for a good place to get it done, shop around a lil bit, cuz there are a ton of people that will rip ya off :-/

yeah, check out SEAMbmw.com, they are the best, good prices too.l
and id say, skip the stroker, and just get teh S50 engine from the 97-99 M3, and do the OBD 1 conversion. then carberate it, and do cams and all that other good stuff, that will ad a lot more HP.

If you're talking about the new one (e60?) I bet the cars chassis couldn't hold the power without reinforcement. Man. I haven't thought about things like this since I was dead set on getting an ae86 corolla (haha, I still will get one ... someday. >: D). But you're talking about putting over 400 horsepower into a car that weighs only 2600 some pounds. And the new one, isn't it a 5.XL something v10? Your weight distribution would -probally- go to hell, aluminum block or not. I'd say... for e30 to track, you'd never need more than like 230rwhp anyhow. (now thats harder to make than it sounds...) but I'm actually tempted to just see if I can't mod my m10 and make like a good 130 or 140 before I do my swap. I really like how my car handles right now... and all I understand is that when I swap to the m20 I'm going to lose that ballence. So I'm holding onto the moments preciously...

See, I really don't get why people put M50's in their E30's ??!?! I was thinking about an engine swap too but than after seing the power numbers on those cars I thought that I would rip my car in half. 400hp is no joke on a small car like that and considering that I want to make it lighter than it already is I would have to scrap that idea.
I also don't understand how they deal with the weight distribution. It has to be so off that the car would handle pretty crappy, I would think.
I myself am still debating if I should just tune the M20 and get a 3.0 litter upgrade. If I had anywhere close to 250-300 hp on the wheels I would be more than happy.
What do you guys think about the engine swaps and do you guys know any better engine swaps than the M50??
