I want to put a custom exhaust system on my 1990 E30 to make it sound real good and sick. What brand should I go with for aftermarket custom exhaust, or if I decide to build my own, what kind of exhaust components sound good on these engines?
A 2.25" or 2.5" is the best if your going custom. I love the sound of the Stromung exhausts. Custom can usually be cheaper though. Flow master mufflers don't sound that bad. Listen to some videos on YouTube to hear what you like best
GOOD GOD! Grr I need a way better job. I wanna build my car, but at this rate itll take a while, seeing as Im bearly makin it from paycheck to paycheck. I had to order parts for the top end overhaul 1 or 2 parts at a time and slowly accumulate all the parts before I put it back together, thats how bad it is. But once I got all the parts, 2 or 3 weekends well spent reassembling the engine, and now it runs!
Don't worry man I've been their before still kinda am. My parts budget is what ever is left over after paying bills and buying food. You can usually get really good deals on used exhausts in the classifieds.
The most expensive E36 exhausts are Eisnmann and Dinan at $1,200-1,500. But that's not as bad as the E60 M5 exhausts at over $2,400.
