m10 carbs/cam v.s stk m42

have an e21 320i have a 38/38down drft.want to put on 40sidedrfts/with cam. my boy is pushing to a m42.Seems like alot of wk for 25bhp.Was going to do a3.5 m30. But i autocross and that wld put out of my class plus nose heavy.

It's 35hp/25 lb.ft ... you're probably going to spend more time and money tinkering with the sidedrafts than you will to put a m42 in, but then again, you might be able to get that power from the carbs and cam and that would be a lot more exciting than a stock m42 ...

thanks,thats what i was thinking. I hear so much crap about the m42 will drop right in. that is just wrong ,it is a lot of wk. I need the intakemald and cam cost$490. m42 will cost all said an done$1600 & change.
