when it was designed it was expected to be able to take up to at least 300hp, according the designer Baron Alex von Falkenhausen. however it proved to be able to take over 1000hp in the turbocharged BT52 formula 2 car.
yea, actually the car made 1280hp on the dyno (because thats as high as it read) and he said they estimated that it made as much as 1500 while qialifying......they ran 4 bar ~ 60psi boost......crazy , but they had a "modified" block....and a DOHC head amongst other things.
