Low Pressure Fuel Pumps

I need to replace mine again. I bought a used one off a guy, but I think it's already gone bad. I burned out the first one by running out of gas (the odomoter, tripometer, and gas gauge were all busted, but fixed now).

The only one I can find is from Bavarian Autosport, but it's $210. Anybody know of any other good sites for new replacement parts? I'd rather buy a new one so I can zero in on if it's the pump itself or if it needs some wiring work.

I have a 1986 325e, if anyone needs to know.

you mean the one under the rear seat right? .cause that's the only pump I know of on an E30....

Yes, the one in the gas tank under the back seat. There is the standard fuel pump under the hood like all other vehicles.

Most people know of the low pressure one in the E30's because it's plastic & lubricated by gas, so guess what happens when you run it out of gas. lol

of course there's only one fuel pump but can't burn it out by running of fuel once. You're not running this thing out of fuel as course continued operation are you? That could be a problem....but no, you can't wreck a fuel pump by running (accidently) out of gas one time...no..that's not possible

yeah..you might have 2 fuel pumps but I have never ever seen or heard of BMW putting an electric fuel pump in the engine compartment. That is insanely dangerous...my 533i and 635CSi both had 2 fuel pumps but none were in the engine compartment....that's quite contrary to BMW logic nor any example I've ever seen or worked on....mine were both located in cavities in the underside of the car (the rotary pumps). Heck, in my current 325i the dang fuel filter isn't even in the engine bay, it's underneath the car....but maybe you are speaking of a different kind of model than I am used to...good luck
