Figured I'd give an update. I just got back from my road trip (Virginia to Florida) and my BMW did great!! It was a smooth ride. I ran the A/C almost the entire time. I haven't calculated the MPG yet, but will tonight. I only had to fill up once going down and once coming back.
The only problem I had was the car burnt 1 quart of oil. When I was coming back and I got into South Carolina, the overhead check oil light came on. I stopped, filled the oil back up, and the light turned off. Is that normal?
My 1990 325i, which I've owned for over 10 years, has always burned a quart of oil every 1,000 - 1,500 miles. It doesn't leak any. I think it's a common trait. The overhead light comes on when it is down a quart, so as long as you add it then, it should be fine.
