Little advice? - BMW Forum

Hey guys.

I've been looking into buying an older BMW for a while for a few reasons, mostly monetary, and I'm only looking to spend up to like $2000 on the initial investment. Those cars are not hard to find at all. However, I know zilch about older BMWs, and the information is sorta hard to sort out. A buddy at work told me to find a model that a lot of people are into, so there will always be parts.

Any advice what to look for, what to keep away from?

well I think the E30 is a good place to start. I know I have been happy with mine. (1985 318i) there is alot of people into E30's.

yes E30 is good. or you can move up to E36, from the E36 on there is more of an aftermarket. there is a definite aftermarket for E30, but I dont think there is one as big as there is one for E36 and E46. Check out Roadfly.com, they have a ton of good ads there.
