I have a 1989 325i (4door) with cloth seats and I'm looking at replacing them with leather ones with more support. I like the ones on the "is" model, but they seem very hard to get in good shape and most of them need to be re-upholstered because of the age. Are there seats from newer BMW body styles that would fit a 4-door e30? - both front and back.
I'm selling the seats in my car to make room for something else that is going in this week.
I've used these in my car for ~1.5 months. They came out of a 1987 325i 4dr that was completely optioned out. While they are made for a 4dr (seats do not flip forward) the fit in a 2dr just fine, but access to the rear seat is a bit more restricted. In a 2dr you have to slide the seat forward, and raise it up. The most people can get into the back seat without trouble.
The leather is in good shape, still soft and subtle. No nasty sun dried patches. Sides of the bottom cusions show typical surface cracks from getting in and out. Redying the seats would cover them up quite well, I was going to but never got around to it.
Seat shocks are OK. The recliner shock needs replacing on both seats (common, easy) but the seat height shock is fully working. I recently cleaned and rebuilt the sliders. They slide smooth and true.
Looking for $100 OBO. Local pickup is much prefered, but I have no issues shipping them at buyers expense. I would be willing to drive 100 miles or so to meet you half or something of that sort.
Take a look at those, just look theyre very very nice tightly fit leather seat covers
Thank you, but I don't like the shape of my original cloth seats. They don't have much lateral support, so covering them with leather would definitely look better, but not offer any more support.
You can also find the nice leather seats in the early "E" cars not just the iS BMW used recaros in "E" cars and aso in "i" and "iS" and "M3" they arent that hard to find when you search that way...everyone has a common miss conception that only iS and M3 had em...bastards... :P ok enough preaching for Equal Rights umong BMW models hah

Man, you will get screwed if you buy 325is seats. The are just not enough for lateral support. I do not know how many times I have hit my a pilar with my head in my car racing at the track. First time I hit it was during 4 wheel drift at a mall structure right where I live and since then I always have one helmet with me in the car.
They look nice, but if you are looking for lateral support they will not bring you far unless you got a 4-5 point harness mounted on them.
The other option thoug is to change the angle and engagement point of your e-brake so that when you hit corners you hold on to it with your right hand REALLY tight (hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....sounds almost like somebody's done it used ).
