Does anybody know if a 1984 M10 (318, UK spec) can run on unleaded petrol as it is currently running on LRP? My 1987 318 M10 has unleaded stickers on the filler flap and engine saying 'unleaded only', also my '87 has no Catalyst. The '84 has no such stickers on it and the owner doesn't have the owners manual! Can you help?
Thanks in advance

All ( 90% ) of leaded designed engines can run unleaded.
However virtually no unleaded engines can run leaded.

if you have a catalytic convertor then you should use unleaded. however i remember seeing that 82-84 M10 1.8L and 2.0L's such as your 318 can not use unleaded
Originally posted by will1506@Mar 15 2004, 12:48 PM i'm certain that it's unleaded. I have a 1991 318i and when I did the conversation, in fact it takes unleaded octave 91 or higher.

in europe they do [/b][/quote]
Yup, and they only sell it at the pump in the UK.
Actually, LRP (Lead Replacement Petrol) is not leaded it contains an addative that acts like there is lead in the petrol.
It's also available in europe, not just the UK
