alarms very drastically in price. i got mine for $200 installed. stick with DEI or audiovox/prestige. those are the two big players in the game.
dei makes hornet/viper/clifford/python and a couple other brands. they are all basically the same alarms
audiovox makes prestige, jensen, pursuit and a couple other brands.
stick with those brands. ive used cheap chinese alarms before and the brain always ends up diving in the deep end after a while. they use lower quality copper braided wires which harden and crack/fray over time.
you can get a good APS996t or pro9800(my alarm of choice, has 7 operating channels to program other remote features not just the alarm/remote start) for around 150-200 + install if you shop around online. install on the e30 for a remote start isnt hard, takes about an hour at most. finding the right tach signal can be a PITA is the only thing. going off any fuel injector signal works though, which isnt hard, just have to tap into the loom.
