My 1991 318i feels like I have put 'kangaroo fuel' in, especially at low revs. I can still notice the uneven running at increased revs. Is this due to a leak on the fuel line or does the ICV need cleaning, or is it a combination of both.

ICV controls idle from full closed throttle to about 1/4 throttle, more or less. So, if ur prob occurs at that throttle opening, then yes, ICV fault can be suspected.

Then also, any type of fuel leak will affect performance because a leak suggests that your injectors cannot achieve a correct working pressure.

quality of fuel also plays a role here. stale gas will cause bad engine performance

rough idle probs can also be caused by electrical faults - when was ur last tune-up? plugs, wires, cap & rotor? ... gas & air filters?

*TIP: hesistation at low speed and drives fine at higher speeds-points to failing plug wires

I have found a leak on the fuel tank that may be causing low pressure. Looks like taking the tank off and looking at the damage.
