K9 Relay

What the heck! Mine isn't there! Anybody know what it does? If you don't know where it is, if you're looking at the car on the driver's side its in the upper left hand corner of the fuse box. Man, what the heck does this relay do? And what kind is it, since I should go get one to put there...

K9 is usually the power windows relay.

I own an '87 316i that didn't have power windows. After I'd owned it a few weeks I fitted some and, yeah, K9 is down in the workshop manuals as being Power Windows. Mine don't use this relay, running off the cigarette lighter (I don't smoke and it saved a lot of messy wiring!), so if your motor is secondhand and maybe has odd-looking plugs where the handle for a manual winding mechanism might be in the door trim then this could be the case!
Also try looking for stray wires behind the footwell speakers.

mines not there, and my electric windows work.

maybe its the rear electric windows?
my windows also work with the driver's door open, and the ignition off.
i remember looking for the k9 relay before, when my windows only worked with the ignition on, but that turned out to be a dodgy door plug pin.
