3-Series (E21, E30)Chat relating to the BMW 3-Series from 1975-1983 and 1984-1991 line. Specific models: BMW 315, BMW 316, BMW 318, BMW 318i, BMW 320/4, BMW 320i, BMW 320/6, BMW 323i, BMW 320i. E30 Family models include: BMW 325e, BMW 325i, BMW 325is, BMW 325ix.
eta has much smaller "pipes" to improve the torque. i has bigger pipes to allow more air to flow in higher revs.
Use i intake when you plan to make other changes. Please note, that also eta and i cylinderheads differ somewhat. You can't use i camshaft in eta head etc..
When it comes to the eta engine, many many things are different. Later "Super Etas" use the i camshaft, and probably the i cylinder head, but retain the eta manifold. Net gain was small, only 2hp or so, but that may be due to the drastic 2000rpm difference in max engine speeds. The reason the i camshaft doesn't fit is because the eta camshaft uses only 4 bearings whereas the i camshaft has 7.
The i manifold should fit just fine. The cylinder heads are very similar.
