Just found out my O2 sensor connector isn't stock. Help!

Bought a 1987 325is about two weeks ago. One of the most important things that needs fixing is the O2 sensor, and I just bought a new one only to discover that it isn't going to work.

The PO must've changed out the connector with something universal. Can't figure out what it is or what kind it is. Anybody know if I can get a new connector from a BMW dealership or anywhere online? My CEL comes on after my engine is good and warmed up, Motronic gives me a 2-flash O2 sensor indicator.

I cant see why the connector has been changed are you sure you have the correct o2 sensor?, I also cant understand why BMW would give you the wrong one, did you give them the VIN# ?
If however you have bought none genuine BMW sensor, I will say no more!

They changed them in 09/1987 ... your car was made before that and you need part number: 11 78 1 716 114. The later cars use: 11 78 1 720 860 and that is what they gave you.

edit: buy it online and save yourself the hassle of getting wrong parts, just plug the number I gave you and go ... here are some prices for you
