just bought a 89 325i conv need to find out whats wrong with it

idles fine/dsnt rev up - first line: check fuel filter and air filter & let's see...

*if you don't know the history of the car, nw is the right time to develop some history on your own.

change all fluids and filters, do the usual tune-up. Change plugs, wires, cap & rotor.

it seems to some sensor or something and thing above idles and goes in missing mode but full throttle it seems strong for ten seconds then cuts off it also has a check engine light on

i change the temp sensor the air meter box then cut off the cat and nothing has helped

My M20 runs beautifully after the service suggestions of darkhorse737 were done.

there are 19 sensors in your car having to do with Powertrain Management, not to mention injection brain malfunction, module failure, or erratic relay operation.

You want a fix(especially since you do not have any history of the car)... then start with the basics.

* you say you have check engine light ON... that's a great place to start. Get the car scanned and diagnosed at a shop. Then you can work out your options from there...

dunno where you are at; but, if you are familiar with craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums i have seen posts of mobile mechs that go around pulling codes for people like us for a charge of $20.- thereabouts

i found out it will pull codes out itself turn car on with the engine off press the gas to the floor 5 times then the check engine light will flash the code witch was the air meter box which i change before which was bad also but i got another one today and it runs good now
