Hey im Joe, just bought an e30 325e, what are some common problems associated with these?

The 325e tends to be a durable model, since the engine is tuned more for economy than for performance. What year? Has the timing belt been recently changed along with water pump? Have a look in the E21/E30 section, and try a search!

thanks man, i do want to go for performance with this car so i hear that in order to do so, a few parts from the "i" motor can be swapped in. No the water pump/timing belt have not been changed from what i know and it has 142k on it so that will need to be replaced at some point. its a 1984

Basically you need the head from a "i" motor and a custom chip; instant 2.7 stroker. 200ish hp and torque to match.
