I've got a new top!

My 1990 325I top is getting pretty ratty. I just receive my new one and was wondering what have I got myself into!?! Does anyone know where I can get a video or some good pics of a convertible top change in action? I've went ahead and got new straps and cables as well. I appreciate any help! Thanks

there is no way I would attempt to install a new convertable top myself. I have an 88 325ic and the top is fine but the rear window is starting to go. I have looked at the installation process and I would rather do a valve job than tackle this bad boy. It's like 100 steps long and very wierd. I would take it to a body shop who has done this and let them do it. Seriously, I have looked into this issue and there is no way I would even try. Best of luck which ever way you choose to go......

I was all set to do the top install on my car as well. However I ended up turning it over to a good upholstery shop. It's a good Idea to put a new seal and new plastic alignment cones on as well. I was very happy with how mine turned out. You can take the hose on full blast, and dump gallons of water right on the seal and none leaks in!

Call around as many shops as you can. The place I went to charged $400, and it was done in about 3.5 hours.

Where did you find the seals and cones at? I've not had much luck.

I got the cones from BMW, they were like $37, which is high, but they're needed to pull the seal tight. You can by the top seal at PelicanParts.com They will need to glue it in during the top install. If done properly, it seals up great.

I found a place locally that will do the top for $375. I'm going to order the front seal and have them install it.
