I can imagine that alot of people have done it (like me, but changed back after a while) but I know here in Germany most people that I have met at the track mostly maintain the stock box because it's better engineered to get cold air from the front. Most of what you get is sound and barely noticable hp gains.

i made a heat shield out of sheet metal and put in between the engine and the intake so i'm getting as much cold air as possible without installing a cold air intake
