Instrument cluster wire

When I pulled the cluster on my 1990 325ic I found a wire (rubber covered rectangular end and with a open hole next to a metal post in the rubber covered end). I assume it plugs into the back of the green plastic box on rear of cluster that has three openings on on side and two on the other for this style of connecctor. Anyone care to guess which port this wire connects to, or is it even required. Thre car starts and runs and all features (save the left turn signal indicator on cluster ) work. I pulled the cluster to reflow the turn signal indicator wiring (to noavail0. I also have a blue wire with slip on end hanging below dash and I have no idea where, if anywhere that one goes.

If you are looking at the bottom of the plug with the speedometer face down, it goes into the upper right plug.

Mystery plug

Great, but what does it do? There are three ports on right side of speedometer and I have tried the lower and middle so far and I see no change in anything.

It's the speedo feed for your cruise control, with out it your cruise won't work.

It will, all three share the same output, the last is the factory "correct" plug in, not that it makes a difference. Just as long as it's connected.
