Today the little green light came on and above it in yellow said inspection! What the hell does that mean? I just got the oil changed so it can't be that.

The computer in an E30 was designed to keep track of all service intervals, etc, but was also designed with BMW computers solely in mind. Hence, most shops don't reset the computer or trigger the appropriate sensors to tell the computer it's had it's expected service.
Mine never used to come on. I checked the fluid level in the rear differential, and suddenly it started working again. Always tells me I need an inspection. If you know you got the servicing done recently, and you're keeping the car up, I wouldn't concern yourself with it.

Changed the car's name, now it's - Roxanne -1985 325e
i think it trips the computer up if you leave the light on, you need to get them all reset asap bub

Yea I've had the same thing happen---got my car tuned up at a local shop and they couldn't reset the inspection light---I ended up having to drive for 1 and a half hours to a BMW shop just to have them reset the light....luckely they didn't charge anything just to reset it. I just hate lights on the dash that aren't supposed to be there.
If you want go to bavauto.com then on the right of the page go to the "tools, manuals, and fluids" link and then go to "reset tools and code readers" and they offer a few tools that can reset that light for you--and they only cost $70-150 (wich is by far better then having to pay some one $75 just to reset it once) I've never used one of these myself but I am thinking about buying one next time my light comes on.
there is a trick with a paper clip and the pins and it resets it just fine...........however i do not recommend this many people have been doing this for years with no problems.......if someone could chime in on this as i am a bit rusty and don't want to "try" to remember which ones to cross.

Here's that trick...it took me forever to find this page. I haven't dared to test this method out...and I probably won't try it. I get scared of shorting things out and blowing something. If any one tries the method explained in the link below you do it AT YOUR OWN RISK.

whoop there it is.......i first started out working for a guy that did this. made me cringe each time he did it.....i personally refused to do it that way........and i have the tool and the adaptor for the older models in my box at home to this day.

Does the process is the same for a E36? (the pins to short in the connector)
I've done the service maintenance myself and I want to make the lights in the cluster become green..
The brake pads lights is also on.. by changing the pads does the lights will disappear by itself?
