Insp Light Problem - BMW Forum

Hello Everyone, I Know this topic has come up way too many times, but I just want to make sure I understand what my problem is. My inspection light came on, but this time it has the yellow and the red lights on, I tried reseting it but it wouldn't work. Does this mean that mi SI board or batteries are bad? Also the car does a beep sometimes when I am driving. Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

The beep could mean that the outside temp has gone below 36 degrees. 36 will then appear on the OBC.....that allways threw me off when I first got my car.

start with the batteries.

Yep, the temp has been below or around 36 degrees. I will attempt to check the batteries, since I thinks that's the least expensive part.

Word, part number 23-191 from your local radio shack. Then just solder them onto your board.

the beep could also mean that the memo button is enabled on your clock, check to see if it says ME in the corner on the clock display

If you have the stock raido, it will beep when it thinks it needs cleaning. Changing the batteries in the cluster can turn and bite you in rear, there are 2 different types batteries, some are the same size of 2 aa others are weird sized looks like a half of aa, 3V batteries that are hard to get and are costly.

But it has to be cheaper than actually buying a new SI board...

Don't rule out buying a new board, 7 times out of 10 the batteries leaked out acid and killed it anyway.

Thanks for the advice, I really have to check my batteries, but it's too cold to work on my car right now. I will let you guys know the status.
