I'm trying to replace my
inner tie-rod ends, and have bent the tie-rod lock plate out of the way, but I can't turn the inner tie-rod end with a wrench. Not only is there very little room to move, but it seems like when i'm wrenching upwards on the inner tie-rod end, the rack rolls upwards slightly with the tie-rod, making it difficult to crack. I'm afraid I could be damaging the rack, teeth or something else, inside the steering gearbox.
Can someone tell me if there is a special procedure for removing the inner tie-rod end without destroying the rack and p. etc.? Should I just heat it up with a blowtorch and hammer away? Turn the wheels? Use a jack on the wrench? Get out my wallet and bend over for the dealer?
Thanks...in advance for your help.
