Info On Performance Chips From Ebay

Hi
I have just bought a chip from ebay (panther) it was about $60 and seem to work fine (I swaped the chips a week).
Anyway I have some questions considering this chip, (if anyone has experience with these chips.)

1. I know that those chips are copied from some brands, would like to know which ones ?
2. Can it hurm the engine ?

chips that cost less than id say $150 cant do very much for your car in the way of power, id go with a name brand like dinan or bavarian autosport, which cost about $250 but are guaranteed to give you 20+ hp

in correct they are clones of the real thing...identical...i had a $40 Jim comforti clone in my car for over a year and i got 22 hp and 20 lb ft gain at the wheels in my ETA

BTW dinan and BAV suck go with Jim comforti or Turner Motorsports

whoa, "dinan and bavauto suck"? those are pretty strong words man....

last time i checked dinan turbo bimmers were kinda fast, but i dunno....

He was refering to their chips and for the mostpart he is right. Their chips are kind of weak in the HP gains compaired to some of the other ones out there, but they are known to pass SMOG without an issue if that is something you are concerned with. Also you will not get 20+ hp on a M20b25 no matter what brand of chip you use. The most claimed gain in HP I've seen for the M20b25 17HP. As long as the copy is good and you use premium gas I don't see any problems with using an ebay chip.

And how can I check the chips work?
I noticed some change in in tourqe and hp, but I'd like to knowmore presizely.
What are the symptoms of good or bad chip?

A bad chip will just not work. Either you will see or feel no gain in power or if it is a really bad chip the car won't run or it will run poorly.
