Ignition Lock Cylinder Removal

I snapped off my key in the ignition

Per Bently's I removed the upper and lower column housing as well as the electrical connections on the back of the cylinder. I inserted a toothpick into the hole where the center of the key 'slot' meets the black ring around it and I cannot get the cylinder to slid out. I tried this with the ignition in the off and on positions. What have I failed to do ?

There might be a small hole on the housing that you have to put a pick or some other tool of that sort in and push. Then it should slide right out.

Thumbs up

I took a hacksaw blade, ground down one side with a grinding tool until it was about the width of a toothpick, then inserted it into the lock so that the barbs would grab the side of the key. She flew right out!

That sucked.

Well, onto the next project...
