Hi, Could Anyone Advise Me How You Can Tell If Your Idle Control Valve Has Gone?
I Have Cleaned My Idle Control Valve And It Started To Make A Noise Like Something Was Moving Inside, Is This Normal?
My Car Started To Run Better, But Still Not Quite There
if the idle control valve is not working correctly your car is gonna have a terrible idle.. your probably wont be able to keep it running. Most likely at least. Mine was dirty a couple times and the car would rev way up and then just shut off. Also when you rev the car it hesitates to come back down... hope this helps a little bit.. Mine never made any strange noises..

Idle will be normal on cold start and then too high (about 1500 rpm) once car has warmed to normal operating temp if the ICV is bad. Other indication is that the idle will surge or hunt after normal warm up. ICV is not active during cold start.

yeah, 'hunting' for idle is a classic symptom. from 300 to 1700 at will....doesn't quite know what he wants to do.....but he's fine when under load...just that pesky idle....
