I got my 88' e30 a year ago with 150k. A couple days ago for the first time it didn't want to stay on after I cranked it up.....so I inspected and came upon a buzzing Idle Control Valve.

It was replaced the next day and cranked up smoothly as expected, but the buzzing noise is still there. You can hear it more when you turn the key to put power to the car before cranking it on.

It ridding and idling properly now. I'm just worried about the buzzing noise. I don't want to ruin this new ICV that I just purchased. Is there something else I need to look at? The car is running fine. Help me out folks!

have you checked your fuel pump? I know, it sounds wierd, but the pump on my e30 always buzzed lightly, so it might be worth looking at.

It's been my unfortunate experience that when you start to "really" be able to hear the fuel pump "buzzing" then it's about time to replace it. This happened to me on my E30, and I didn't bother with it....then one day I was walking. My wife's volvo experienced the same thing, lucky for me I cought that one when she complained of the noise and shortly thereafter of a loss in power.
So, my advice would be, if you can hear the fuel pump buzzing over the sound of the engine, get it replaced. It's not a lot of money compared to the inconvienience of walking to the next exit and then having to listen to your friends go on and on about your BMW letting you sit.
