me too. I need to replace my whole strut asssembly right now. I hear I can get the assembly at Autozone for like 30 bucks. But I'm also curious, does that include the bushing (I'm pretty sure thats what its called) at the top that is exposed under the hood? The black rubber business? Blah! But I need to just get the rear shocks and whatnot replaced at this point. I've got a set of heavy duty front shocks, but I don't want to put them on till I have the equivilant for the rear. So anyhow, just wondering.
bavarian autosport.com sells heavy duty rear shock mounts for 44$ a piece, and they are supposed to be really realy good, if not those, then for 22$ get the E30 M3 rear shock mounts, they fit fine, but they are stronger, so they will last longer. check out turner or bav for bilsteins in the back, I cant seem to find a site for Koni's, they seem to be better then bilstein because they give you the option of adjustable stiffness. but may cost a few extra bucks, IMO, definetly worth it. I am going to get the TurnerMotorsport susp stuff, it comes with bilsteins, but the shocks are suppose to be pretty damn good. and so are the springs, and turner discounts em cuz its a package.

when you say they come with the shocks, do you mean the heavy dutys? Or just a bilstein normal shock? Is there such a thing? Blah. No idea. Anyhow, I guess I'm just confused. Haha, but thanks for the help. I'm still trying to source the rears. Does anyone know where I can get a boot for the shocks I have up front? The plastic boots stuff to keep dirt and grime from getting into the tube or whatever aren't there, and I'd like to keep the stuff out. I saw some sort of kit on Bavauto that I think was intended for that, but I don't want to really add that kind of stuff and then come to find out that its not the same as I have up front. It'd just be weird to me. haha.

Halon, I highly recommend NOT buying any critical parts for your E30 at AutoZone. The price may be right, but you DO get what you pay for. I would feel comfortable buying a license-plate frame at AutoZone - but that's about it! Just my $0.02...
Hmmm, well thanks for the heads up. I've never really bought anything more expensive than a set of wiper blades there. I was looking at some parts on bavauto and stuff, but they didn't have what i thought was the immedeate answer. I need the whole rear assembly. Blah. I need someone to break it down to me... haha.

I got mine at BAP Import Auto for something like $75 for the pair, including the mounts. They are cheap Gabriel shocks, but they were a necessity, and I had already planned to upgrade to Bilsteins and shorter springs later on.
