I Hate My Brakes

I was wondering why my brakes are sqeaking after going from high speeds tp slowing down. as soon as they reach 40 and i brake they start to squeak but this only happens after a few minutes of driveing once they warm up..


what are a good set of brake pads for no squeaking and for winter driving weather?

are the stock ones from bmw good?

what types are u guys useing??

ate rotors and pads gpnna get super blue fluid soon real good gripping even after it had rained here for a couple days and after my car got washed including rotors

Does the wheel shake when u brake? If it does ur rotors are probably warped, causing the brakes to squeek. If the rotors and pads are relatively new and still squeek like mine do, u are going to have to apply some brake grease or anti- squeal compound to the back side of the pads. I replaced both rotors and pads with OEM parts and they still squeeked so this weekend i am going to put some brake grease on the back of the pads and that should take care of it.

Are u going to do it or is a mechanic?

I did mine, and for the parts from bavauto to do the front brakes it cost about $150

Bav auto sells front Mintex pads for 40$ for front and rear.

Rotors sold individually are 40$ for front(each), and 30$(each) rear. 220$ total.

Mintex is real good. its what i have now, and i dont get that much brake dust, and you should know that i brake hard running through the canyons.

These are really good, ive had them since i baught the car last august, and they are still not sqeaking now, even though i plan to replace the rotors and pads soon.

Used to run Repco MetalMasters - stopped on a dime, but really rough on rotors. Now I run EBC GreenStuff pads from TireRack.com. Good stopping power, no noise and very little dusting on the basketweave wheels - definitely a plus.

go ahead and spend the money for ATE or Brembo rotors - stay away from the cheap ones at the ocal parts store, you'll be much happier.
