How to replace worn Starter Motor...

I have the intake out and soaking it in solvent. I see one injector is missing a spacer that is behind the o ring. Do I need new o rings and if so how do I get them off and on. O does anyone have a download able manuel for the 90 325i?

I would let those injectors soak in gasoline and clean off the tips with a stiff brush. Cut off all the o-rings with snips and replace them all. You should buy new fuel injector o-rings for all 6 injectors. The cost about $8 at pelican parts and there is an article there online about installation and removal. I would recommend getting either a new or used injector on ebay if you don't have the spacer, I picked a working used one up for about $13 shipped when I broke one of the plastic tips cleaning my injectors.

I have gotten the old starter out and new one in. I left the oem shim that was there. The starter that I put in was a oem and I think it is reman too. I put everything back together. Got a injector kit off of Injector-Rehab Fuel Injector Cleaning Services. works well and was $20.00 for all 6 injectors (O-rings, washers, and screens). Anyways, was up till 4am finishing the bmw. Sad, could not find the keys. So this morning I went out and try to start the bmw. I heard the starter click and the gear engage but does not turn. Sounds like a clunk. So I have 12v at the starter. Battery has full juice. Found out the starter is binding on the flywheel. Is there something wrong I did or did not do that would cause this? How can I get the starter to not bind? I am thinking of taking the fly wheel cover off and have someone try and start it and see. Also if turning the fly wheel some would help. The bmw is a pain in my side right now.

I was having a mysterious electrical problem that I could not figure out after hooking up my replacement starter. The battery seemed fine but it would not turn over. I pushed the vehicle 2 blocks down the street to a mechanics shop and he traced the problem to a loose ground wire that he reattached to the chassis. I would never have been able to figure it out on my own, and he needed a 2nd person to assist in the procedure so I spent over an hour at his shop helping connect wires while he checked for voltage at various locations in the wiring harness. I think it cost me about $50 to $100 for the expertise.

Did yours do the same thing when you tried to start it. The clunk sound? I will double check and see. It is odd to me but there is a stop in the engine bay for the battery but its in the trunk. I hope it is something small like that and I would not have to shim it. Tuesday I will have a chance to look at it and test it.

I don't remember a clunk sound, just nothing happening when I turned the key. It could be that you have a different problem. I hope you get it figured out.
