I was wondering how low the gas tank has to be in a 325i for the light to come on? I ran it down the lowest I have so far and still no light. I know the light works cause I tested the sending unit when I first got the car last month. I ran it down to the red on the gauge and the light didn't come on. I put a little more than 13 gallons in it when I filled it up after work today. How big is the tank in an '89 325i? Basically all I really want to know is how low on the gauge does it have to be for the light to come on and how far can I go once the light comes on? Normally I fill up when I have a 1/4 tank left but I just wanted to know if I was out somewhere and couldn't find a gas station how far could I go with the light on.

wow, i dont think ive ever had to put in more than 12 gallons on my 325is, which is usually around 70miles left on the range button, but i dont trust the gas light or the obc when the needle is well below the red marker.
