how long do 3 series last

I am considering buying a slightly used 3 series sedan and was wondering how many miles you can put on them before they need a lot of maintenance (ie. engine rebuild, new clutch/transmission, etc.) Can anyone help?

I have a 1988 BMW 325i with 140k miles on it and as far as I know, there hasn't been anything major that has gone wrong with it. The engine and transmission are still going on strong.

mine has 320,624 Ks and its still running strong it also depends on how well u can maintain the car do oil changes more often and u will only have minor problems that can be repared pretty easyly.

If u take care of them they can last a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg time, just keep the car goin strong and it won't let u down.

man i have a 91' 318iS manual and its badass with 170k on it, my gauges dont work, but i think its fuses so its np...if u hav money to play with get an iS model they r the best or an M but those are really expensive...get like a 318iS or a 325iS manual dont get an AUTO!!!

i got a 84 318i and it got 177K miles one it and it still runs like beast.

why do you keep posting the same post in 3 forums. You've heard what eveyone's said, they are almost bullet proof depending on the care given to the car... pretty much holds true with any car with a solid history and regular maintenance

I have 1991 318is and I have 198,000 miles on it and had no problems with it even with all of the abuse and upgrades that i have done to it.

i have strongly heard that they last till 300k guys so thats a breaking point, but thats pretty dman long for a fukin 4cyl...

my 89 325iS(manual) has 206k miles on it and I rev the crap out of it, but also take care of it, and it runs just fine. just keep it maintained and things of that nature and you should be just fine.

Mine is 248K km and still doesn't touch the oil (15W40 semi synthetic). What does that mean? E30 are rock solid cars if maintained well of course
