I changed my oil and filter this morning (4.5 quarts). My engine runs alittle rough and when i opened the oil filler cap, there is some smoke coming out. And there are some bubbles on the dip stick.
How can i screw that up?

I'm pretty sure your car takes more than 4.5 quarts with a filter change. My 325i takes 5 liters with a oil change with filter which is about 5 1/4 quarts. Did you change what weight oil you used from the last time you changed the oil?
use mobil, castrol sucks, breaks down way faster than full synthetic Mobil..15w/50 extended performance...if its good enough for race cars its good enough for me

The bently said it takes 4.5 quarts with a filter change. But when i started it up the oil light was on, and it was barely at the low line on the dip stick. So i added another .75 quarts, and let it sit for a while. Initially the car wasnt hot btw. But the second time it worked fine, with no bubbles or smoke or anything. So i guess i fixed it

well reading this post I really think the guy at the autopart went overboard by telling me that this car holds 6.5 quarts of oil. BTW its a 91 325ix, I did the oil and filter change by myself and after pouring the 5th quart I took the stick out to see if it was true, well the stick looked like it could hold more, so I poured the 6.5 quarts on it. The car runs the same as before, no leaking, no hesitation, no smoke, so I think he wasn't so wrong.
