how to "buy" a used car...

today I might be going to look at an 87 325iS....black,5 speed, 137k...the asking price is 1750, but I have the feeling this lady will go lower.

I talked to her on the phone and it was hard to understand what she was saying (was mexican I believe), so I am waiting for her to send me pictures, and then I will decide whether or not I want to go check it out.

but assuming I go check out the car, like it, and negotiate on a price, what do I do from there?

do I just give her the money and then drive it home...???or do I have to get the ownership papers or what...

wherei live u have to get a safty check and emmisions testing pass to get the car certified to get a sticker for the plate and here in canada u have to drive with insurence by law so if u give any money get the owner ship

she needs to provide the smog. and current registration. if she doesnt have current registration...they charge alot for back taxes. look for body dmg and interior dmg. she needs to have current SMOG done on the car b4 she sells it...by law i belive (in ca, where i live) then u get the car registered into ur name and get the insurance on it, and everything is good
