Hot Soak Nightmares

ever wonder what would become of your specially fitted wheeled baby if you did the ::"HOT-SOAK";; wrong...?

i do ... i want to do this method of cleaning out the unused carbon and regain the new power feeling (which my car has about half of my friends 91 325ix does) and quick responces...

what is the worst that could happen?
+ and if there is a time limit on the SITTING STAGE is it

- 1 hour like suggested
- 3 hours as another has done with a great result
- or are you all machanics at my local bmw dealer giving me horrid advice on the quickest way to do a compresion seize...

a "COMPRESION SIEZE" is what i think of when the pistons are going to try to come up and since GAS can comress("squeeze, shrink") and LIQUIDS can-NOT (think hydraulics-) im wondering if the car should be OFF when forcing the cleaning agent inside

is there a method to force this cleaning agent inside?

are there bonafide peaple who have done this..?

im just skeptical... and if i hear what can go wrong maybe we can find a way around such dilemas (especially to my rolling baby).

ive done a great number of things with my ride and it has saved my life more than once with its superb handling... however

i have put over 200,000 miles on and im ready for another 100,000 before i buy the newest model again, its that great... but i am low on power...

i was just in my friends 91 325ix and its got 35% more power... and also only 75,000miles.. but is the "HOT SOAK" going to be worth it...?

the HOT SOAK is certainly easy to understand however i wish to accomlish the same results without the engine on...

o do tell...i dont mind getting under the hood,

not to mention the engineers club on design and yes ill send some pictures as soon as i take them this weekends... i just got a digi cam.....

The hot soak stuff (be it Techron, Sea Foam, or what have you) will turn into a pretty fine mist when it gets in the intake. You're pouring a small amount at a time when you do this, so it's not enough to have to worry about compression seize. There shouldn't be a problem when you do a hot soak if you read the directions and understand them.

I have personally done the Hot Soak. Everything went as planned and my car started right up after sitting for an hour and a half. At first the car will run like crap and smoke will come out of the muffler. Let the car idle for about ten to 15 minutes, then take it on an open road or the highway and open that baby up. The guys at the BMW dealer are knowledgeable but behind all that advice is a huge money sign. They don't want you to do stuff yourself, so u should have no problem with this procedure. Good Luck!!

thanks for the confidence and i just started the procedure, and hopefully i didnt ruin it too bad, because

asi was puting the hose in the jar of techrolene the engine died about half way through and i walked around to start it

which it did and started to blow smoke but then

ran around again and then it sucked up the rest...

it wasnt 30 seconds b-4 i was done...

and i was about 1 teaspoon from running out of cleaning sauce...

now i am impatient with the outcome...

i want to go start it up right now...

ive heard someone waiting 3 hours... is there a TOO LONG waiting period ?

ill reply the results as soon as i can...
