hints or tips about mantaining a 84 318i?

i bought a 84 318i like about a month ago, the car had 176,000 miles on it when i bought it. i just need the car to last for about 2-3 years more if possible.
does any one know any thing i can do that will keep this car running strong?

I have an '85 318i. CHECK YOUR OIL OFTEN. Mine leaks like a mutha, four cylinders will go quick without oil. Change your plugs often. Check your coolant. Other than that their pretty good cars. I haven't had any trouble after I replaced my engine. It had 180,000 on it and it dropped a valve and jacked up the head and number one piston... had to put anopther engine in it. this one has 100,000 on it
