Alright my car is finally running the best it ahs since i got it. but it has a really high idle. like when you give it gas it will rev up, like normal, then when you let off, the idle goes down, and within a few seconds, the idle builds back up again. it is really high, its almost scary jsut to be under the hood when it is running, because the idle is way high, but your not in the car. what causes this problem and what should i do to fix it? also, is it safe to run fuel injector cleaner through it? thanks. fuel injector cleaner is fine to run through it but i believe it doesn't really do anything. also somthing could be faulting and then your engine goes to failsafe mode and you get a high idle arround a grand or so i believe. if it just started happaning tht could be it but if its done it its whole life it could be the idle screw on the throttle boddy, but its most likley the first one.

ok ill chek that stuff. but it idles REAL high, like 2500 or so. but it also could be that the fan is broken, so that is making it louder, ive never had a car with a fan right on the blcok, only electric fans(84 fiero). but ill check that stuff. thansk Chris---

yeah you loose a few hp with the block fan, i have yet to do the electric conversion, but has it had this problem since you had the car? and does it always idle that high or does it just do it some times.

lets see, for the most part, it has done it all the time. and it always idle high EXCEPT when i give it gas, it revs up normal, and then when i let go of the throttle, it idles down, and tehn in a few seconds, back up.

does it idle rough when it goes low? you might have a vacume leak...? however it does sound like somthings faulting and its causing a high idle reset your ecu, disconect you bat for a little while and then connect it and start it see if it does it.
