Well I got a carfax on a perspective track car and I'm more confused than before. Can anyone help me with a couple of items. One why would no milage show on a 1989 vehicle befor 6/13/95? Second, CARFAX says it estimates 2 owners but then shows 7 separte "Title Issued" hits. I thought that usually went along with a change of ownership?

Anybody shed some light on this info?

CARFAX did not uncover any odometer rollbacks for this 1989 BMW 325I/IS (WBAAA1300K4204664).

there are several things that can cause this:

1. carfax service didn't exist prior to 1995 (?)
2. no service/inspections had been done on the car prior to 6/13/95
3. service/inspections had been done, but at an establishment which does not maintain database records prior to 1995.
3. service had been DIY.

i am not certain of #1 as i do not know when carfax came into existence, or if they are able to run queries back beyond their establishment date.

bear in mind that carfax is not foolproof. it is in fact easy to dupe the system, a wrecked car can easily be bought and sold without ever raising any red flags.

yea please be aware that you cannot trust on carfax 100 percent!!!!!! i had this galant that was 20 pecent wreck by a taxi that ran a red light. i had some of the damaged fixed and sold the car for 700.00 to this guy in nj. you could look at this car and figure out something had hit it hard. two years later someone gave me a code for a free carfax. well i decided to look up my old car......... there was no report of the accident or nothing. i guess the guy in nj sold the car to someone else because the title was tranfered to someone else. oh yea at the time i was told that the car would never pass inspection, so the guy told me he would take care of it. also i informed the guy who picked up the car for 700.00 of everything. he too informed me he would have no problem with nj inspection. the bottom line is you cannot trust carfax 100 percent., and just because a car passed inspection that does mean nothing.
