Help....oil pan change? - BMW Forum

So i need to change the oil pan in my 1989 325i and i was wondering if anyone has done this. if it is an easy drop and replace or harder than i would think......

Take a look underneath and see if you have enough clearance between the pan and cross member/steering rack, just remember if the pan is say 75mm deep you will need say 50mm from the bottom of the pan to what ever is in the way to get it out as your con rods do go down in to the oil pan.

Okay thanks i will do. i havent been up to my shop in a lil while so ill go check on that. thank you though for your help. i read somewhere that you just take it down clean it and replace it i figured it would be a little more complex than that than that.

why do you think you have to replace the entire pan?

^ cause it is one piece.... I just JB welded mine....

i have tried jb weld i drained it,cleaned it,sand blasted it and it just cracked off and leaked again so i go a new one.....
