Question Help! New ST swaybars, nice, wierd green color, LOL How do I remove rear bar?

OK I finally got my ST swaybar kit 22mm front 19 mm rear
part number 52010
$289 with local pick up from shox.com San Diego
Same kit shox.com (ASI) ships to TurnerMotorsports.
wierd green color now, they used to be gray like my ST springs, see pics. ST says all new products are this color. LOL I'm getting used to it, kinda ricer like.

front went in pretty easy.
thanks to Bently not the ST instructions
had to put it up on stands and remove control arm bushing bracket to get bar out/in no problem

3 Questions:

1. How the heck do you get the rear bar out? It looks hard?
diif,exhaust,fuel fill pipe?
Bently doesnt seem to say how to RnR the rear bar? Am I missing something?
Do I have to remove muffler?

2. Kit comes with four triangular reinforcment plates. Can I just bolt the two triangular reinforcments on to the top and bottom of the swingarm tab until I can get it welded?

3. To weld it properly should I just get one triangular reinforcment plate welded onto the top of the tab? I think I once saw pics of somone do it this way.

I'll try and take some more pics.

the rear is hard, only time i have ever installed a rear bar on an E30 the exhaust and driveshaft was out of the way

thats easy enough though, what 4 drive shaft bolts and 6 exhaust bolts

Thanks Kraut,

Its Sat morn, got my coffee, half a pack of smokes, I'm about to start the project.
I'll put it up on stands, remove muffler, disconnect the bar, then see if I can get it out. If not I'll remove shaft.
you mean drive shaft not half shaft axel thing right?
Remove bar from in front of the diff?
I'm sure I'll figure it out once I'm up in therre.LOL

OK 6 hours later Its installed.
Had to dremel out part of the bushings to accomidate the turn in the bar. about 45 degrees and 1/4 inch in at an angle.
Looks like the bars are not wide enough.
Had to install the U bracket on the tab then add the end link. Contrary to instructions.
Put end links on outside of bar looked too tight put em on inside angle too severe, put em back on outside.
Anyone know if they go onoutside?
Instructions dont say.
Too close to the springs but seems to clear it and work well so far, have to check for rubinig later.

Did test drive.
Absolutly awesome results!!!!

Have to wait till next autocross to know for sure, but I did some hard cornering much faster than I usually do with more stability and confidence. Did somehigh speed andlow speed corners.

awesome glad it worked out, see wasnt soo bad, just takes a while

i on the other hand will probably never be running aftermarket bars on my street car...i like my nice soft independant travel haha, especially with how bad the roads are here haha...biggest i would go is maybe the M3 sway bars...thats about it. looks like you went pretty mild on the sizing though...good call

nothing worse that going canyoning on a beat up road when you have large sway bars, you hop all over the place

you WILL on the other hand REALLY notice a difference once you go autox or road course racing...job well done sir

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks again Kraut.

I think just replacing the 20 year old front and rear end links and rubber bushings with urethane would alone make a huge difference.
The old ones were pretty crusty. LOL

It turns in much much quicker now. I was really suprised by that.
Car rotates around much faster too.
Havent induced a real good slide or any push yet.
Seems like alot of the slop is gone, more than I realized was there.
Feels more stable at higher speeds (100+) less "float". Havent really opend it up yet though.
Still testing it out but havent had any hop yet either. I think the ST springs I have arent as stiff as Eibach or H&R race or IE J stock springs so its still pretty resonable on the pot holes and bumps so far. Good balance

Again Id say if you have original hardware replacing the bushings and links as a minimum is a must do.
