Help with my 89 BMW.

I just got my first 1989 BMW 325i and it has issues with the VDO cluster. First off the tach and econometer don't work, I checked the fuses, and found 30 amps where only 10 amps should be. “Things that make you go hmmmm.” To save me a lot of unnecessary drama of trying to figure this out, maybe some one else had this problem I do. I'm missing something or am I right in thinking the tach and mpg gage are shot, or is it deeper.

Also the service light and the yellow and red lights were on. I tried to reset the service light and it didn't work, I then replaced the 2 short 3V batteries on the inspection light board. $17.00 and 1 hour later the yellow and red leds are out but inspection light stays on and will not go out by the normal clearing method. Did I miss something?

I'm thinking that I may very well have to get another instrument cluster because the odometer gears are busted. If the cost to fix it is unreasonable, does anyone have one that works for a reasonable price?

Maybe there's a broken connection where the instrument plugs in. Or a sensor or something may be out.

change the batteries in the instrument cluster,you can pickup rechargable at radio shack with the solder tabs, i mounted mine remotely so i would not have to go back into the instrument cluster to change them later,its not a bad job mabey an hour or so good luck
