Well good morning, I was an old user of this forum and then sold my bimmer but I just picked up another one. I bought a 91 318is for $1400, its super clean other than a seat being different color otherwise the car is great.
Okay to my issue... I went to the car was and cleaned my engine last night, after that it ran fine, however this morning when I was going to work the car started to sputter. I checked some vacum hoses and some are cracked and I replaced one already but it does sound like a vacum leak. I am having a relly hard time finding the hoses at the dealer but I am going to get ghetto and go to Pep Boys and buy a roll to replace the hoses for the mean time. If anyone has any ideas or advise please let me know. I am leaving work early today to fix it because its my daily commuter and I dont like using my Durango for work.
Thank you in advance
Nice score.
I'm sure it will be a blast once you get it all sorted out.
Safety, reliability then performance. LOL
I think I got some standard vacume lines from autozone or bavouto.com cant remember.
As long as you get the right diameter(s) right rigidity, you should be fine.
Mines a 325is but heres some of the places to check.
I think the intake belows (ribbed thing) is notoriuos for leaking too, inside the ribs that you cant see easily.
O ring on oil dip stick too. Not sure what size this is.
ICV hoses around intake?
sensor thing on the other side of the intake.
Oil filler cap!! can get quick cheap temp replacement at autozone pep boys or whatever.
Some people spray starter fluid around suspected leaks around intake to find them. If it gets sucked in you can hear the results, I think.
Get a bently manual ASAP too.
All I can think of for now.

be careful with cheap caps....I lost my original cap (long story) so I ran to checker and got the only replacement they had...fram (does fram make anything with quality?) 3 months later the fram cap got stuck on! it took me days to get off....
That is funny that you guys mention the oil cap. My cap had a crack in it and made my car run like crap. So I got a replacement from NAPA and it was metal! I didn't think anythin of it till I went to top off oil after my car had warmed up and it is very hot and the seal partial sealed and was hard to get off. LOL Brings memories. Just thought yall might wanna know.
Thank you guys very much... I am going to replace the hoses when I get home today. I'm gonna get the Pep Boys hoses until I get the ones I ordered today from Shelly BMW. Hopefully this fixes the problem and I can get back to saving gas.
Well I've bought the hoses at the dealer, they cost me 65.00 for all of them but well worth the money because after I install them I am sure the car is gonna be smooth. Not to mention the lunch date I have with the parts counter girl, she hooked me up with some discounts and I could not resist on asking her out.
I will repost as soon as I install them and let you know the outcome.
Thank you all once again.
Excellent let us know how it turns out.
and post some pics of the car. Please
I love the 318is. I think that was the only year they offered it too, rare!!!
You are lucky to have one.

This is my car, I need to buy the TPS to get it running right.

Yes, I do have to remove the trottle body to install it however, I dont think there is an adjustment. The TPS is stable on the throttle body, I dont know if there is room to adjust. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1...p/PIMG0099.jpg
