hello everyone, just bought my first bmw, always wanted one since i was a little boy,i didint buy exactly was a dreamt about, but i will get there one day. i bought a 325i 1986 for $500. it needs a lot of work. i just changed all the taillight bulbs license plate bulbs and im having trouble getting the third brake light to come on, but i downloaded the Bentley manual and hopefully i can get it to work pretty soon, not trying to get pulled over for that,i appreciate all the info in this forum. i do have one question for now, how do i figure out if i bought a 325, 325i, or 325e, the decal says 325i on the trunk, the door decal says 325, 325e and something else but not 325i???
Look at the tach. if redline is at 4500 it's an e if not its an i.

If your not really happy with it then maybe another model might be better. What was your budget? E36's can be found in great shape for relatively cheap. They were the most popular BMW made so their are tons around.
Correct me if im wrong, your saying your not happy with the amount of work you have to put into it?
For $500 you cant expect a 26 year old car to be perfect. I also cant say you got a good deal until i see pictures of the car or see it in person. Any car of that age will require some work be it repairs or regular maintance.
im not complaining,i knew i had to put work on it, and i know a car as old as me is not in perfect condition, im just being lazy right now, plus im pretty medicated, lol
Ahh. Well if you need any assitance feel free to ask questions. We will gladly help you get it running properly. Its very easy to bring it back to running the same way it did 25 years ago.
