I was wondering if anyone has heard about any group buy ins for Mass air flow conversion kits. If not could anyone get one started (maybe someone has some connections or something), im a little strapped on money but after seeing this on a SCCA car here in texas and the improvements it made i really want to get my hands on one. If anyone has any info on this please help me out.
Also im looking for a 5speed transmission for a 325i does anybody have one thats for sale preferably in good shape but it doesnt have to be (doing m20 conversion). Last Question does anyone know of a good company where i can get reasonably priced performance parts, i want good parts like korman, ireland, or even bmp but im tired of paying too much at Bavarian Auto for parts. Thanks for any help guys
Since no one on here seemed to know anything about this i called some of the tuning companies hoping to find some stuff out. First i called bmp they said they dont do group buy ins very often next i called ireland and they dont carry them (should of known that oh well but i did get some good info from them) next i called split second themselves they dont do that they usually let there dealers do it but they recommended me too this seam company again and said that they had a large inventory of maf kits and to contact them and to see if they were interested in doing a group buy in. Well after calling them they said they would be willing to do a buy in if we could get around 25 people or so together the guy i talked to said they could sell them for around $560 for a complete kit i dont think that included shipping but still itll be like $300 cheaper than normal . I think this is a pretty good price compared to the normal price (bmp is $900 or so). So if any of you guys are interested spread the word and lets get this going if we can get even more people im sure they would drop the price even more. Oh and i still need a 5 speed if anyones parting out a car!!
Maf kit replaces your stock afm (the big flapper style air flow meter) with a mass air flow sensor this does not have a big flapper that you ahve to move out of the way (less restrictive). the kit also has an adjustable fuel/air ratio calibrator and fuel/air meter so you can adjust your fuel/air mixture and thus get more gas and air into your engine ( = more hp ). Im not a very technical person so if you want more info go to www.splitsec.com or www.bmpd.com or even www.seambmw.com and read up. I do know this is standard in almost any race car on the track rather it be nascar or f1. Im sorry i cant provide more info.
thats all the info i needed. thanks. so like 500 for one of the kits right? .... perhaps depending on when it all gets ordered i could have the money to do this. let me know.
Whoaaaa....$500ish count me in too thats friggen cheap...im down for that

just do a M30 AMF convirsion. alots cheaper..unless u got money to blow
the understanding I have though, is that even though the m30 may be a little better than the m20 afm... its still -not an MAF-... :P [/b][/quote]
i dont think your 85 4banger is gonna need more air than a m30 afm dude :P
Its not just the maf being less restrictive (it is by quite a bit) than the m30 it also allows you the option to adjust fuel/mixture. Ive heard that the m30 afm doesnt help that much. Also a maf gets rid of the flapper that is still present in the m30 afm (m30 flapper is actually bigger) so with a maf you dont have to move that big flapper out of the way which would require even more air to move since it is larger than the m20s. So its simple a maf kit is larger than an m30 afm is about 3 times less restrictive (due to the absence of the flap) and the maf kit allows you the ability to adjust air/fuel mixture, a much better upgrade then m30 afm. But just my thoughts.

I'm not getting the MAF for my m10. I'm swaping into an m20 (I don't even want to hear about m30's anymore. Long story.) and I don't have an AFM. So instead of getting one of those... why not just get an MAF?
So we have three people. Hum we just need 22 more. Lol. Well i dont seem to understand why there arent more i mean this has to be the best kit out there and its really cheap but yet none of you guys are interested.
Well i also have been talking to these seam guys some more and if any of you guys are interested in a group buy in on Ireland Engineering stuff just post what you were thinking about getting and ill get you some prices.
