Gearbox Conversion

here in New Zealand most bmw's r automatic which sucks balls so i was just wondering if i bought (just an example) an automatic e30 318i and converted it to a manual would it then be the same as a factory made manual e30 318i or will it be slower???

If you got the differential of the automatic, most are a higher ratio, the converted car may be faster than the BMW made standard shift.

Parts needed includes:

new rear engine seal, SACHS clutch kit, hydraulic components, guibo, transmission mounts, center bearing, shift boot and more.

Used parts include: cleaned and re-painted Getrag 260 transmission, flywheel, driveshaft, shifter platform, and pedal bracket assembly. All parts are here to replace the 4HP22 automatic transmission.

ok so would an automatic e30 318i have the same hp as a manual e30 318i, say both were exactly the same except the gearbox!?!?

transmissions dont noticeably change horsepower...you might get a couple extra hp to the ground....nothing huge...

The reason a manual transmission is soo much faster is because of gearing...and less shifting time....besides automatics of for people in the right lanes

yeah i am planning to get a manual one. oh and here in NZ the right lane's are the overtaking lanes!!! so an automatic car is for the people in left lane or asians!!! no offence to any1 here but its so true...
